Definition of Explanation Text

Explanation is a text which tells processes relating to forming of natural, social, scientific and cultural phenomena. Explanation text is to say ‘why’ and ‘how’ of the forming of the phenomena. 

Generic Structure of Explanation Text

• General statement : stating the phenomenon issues which are to be explained.
• Sequenced of explanation : stating a series of steps which explain the phenomena.

Purpose of Explanation Text

• Explanation is a text which tells processes relating to forming of natural, social, scientific, and cultural phenomena.
• To explain how or why something happens.

Examples of Explanation Text

Here is an example of  a Exposition text.

Butterfly

Butterflies are wonderful insects with beautiful pairs of wings. They are often found in flowery meadows or city parks that provide abundant food resources. Behind their amazing appearance, butterflies have to undergo a long process to morph from a caterpillar called metamorphosis.

The life cycle of a butterfly begins when a hungry caterpillar hatches from an egg laid by adult female butterflies. The caterpillar, often known as a larva, feeds on green foliage that helps it grow longer, bigger, and plumper. At a specific age, it molts and stops eating then hangs upside down and makes itself a cocoon or chrysalis.

Pupa usually hard, smooth and in a form of a structure without any limb. Commonly pupa is green, brown or the color according to the surroundings (camouflage).The forming of a butterfly in the pupa usually takes 7-20 days depending on the species.

At this phase, the chrysalis contains caterpillar juice that is rich of protein to continue the metamorphosis. The discs then forms antennae, legs, wings, and other features. The fully-formed butterfly emerges from the cocoon and dries itself before flying for the first time.

~ Definition ~

Exposition text is a text that elaborates the writer’s idea about the phenomenon surrounding.

~ Purpose ~ 

• To persuade the readers that idea is important matter. 
• To persuade the readers or listeners that there is something that, certainly, needs to get attention.
• To analyze a topic and to persuade the reader that this opinion is correct and supported by arguments.

~ Generic structure ~

       1.      Thesis (Introduction): Introducing the topic and indicating the writer’s position

       2.      Arguments (Body): Explaining the arguments to support the writer’s position.

       3.      Reiteration (Conclusion): Restating the writer’s position.

~ Example of Exposition Text ~

  The Magical of Music in Life 

I personally think that music is one of the most important thing in our life. music is a part of our life. music is completing our day. music is the most faithful best friend and music is always willing to fill your loneliness. so, music has a magical powers. i do believe that. why? here are some reasons why music is heard in everywhere and anywhere.

Firstly, music is a way to express our feelings. when you fall in love, heartbroken, happy, mourning, loneliness, cheerful, just all kinds of feelings can be expressed through music.Besides music can express feelings, music can even change the feeling. when you are desperate and sad, and then you hear a song that is cheerful and motivate you, then you come back feeling optimistic and uplifting. how magical music is!

Second, music can unite people for a cause and changes the world. A song with good lyric and striking deep chord can stimulate the universal feeling of all people. 

Third, as an unstable teenager, who has a lot of problems with love or lessons, you must urgently need friends to share and want to hear your story. at the moment no one can accompany you, music can replace a friend to fill the loneliness. and it was enough to work!

the other reason as long as you know, Song can help to memorize the last experiences. A favorite song is a powerful documentary. People with Alzheimer which are impaired the brain would remember details about songs they were familiar with. For example, an elderly woman who couldn’t even remember her husband’s name would remember the details of her favorite song; when it was played, how it made her feel and things about the song that made it especially memorable for her.

So what would the world be like without music? It would be lonely.

Conclusion 

Exposition text is a text that elaborates the writer’s idea about the phenomenon surrounding. I create Exposition text about The Power of Music in Life. Music is completing our day. music is the most faithful best friend and music is always willing to fill your loneliness. so, music has a magical powers.
